Roundtable Supports Appalachian Energy for National Security Act
The West Virginia Roundtable has sent a letter of support for the Appalachian Energy for National Security Act of 2019 to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, and Sen. Joe Manchin, ranking member on that committee.
The letter reads, in part:
On behalf of the West Virginia Roundtable, Inc. a nonpartisan 501(c)(6) organization with a mission of improving the West Virginia economy, and the individual members named below, we are writing in support of The Appalachian Energy for National Security Act of 2019.
The November 2018 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) report titled "Ethane Storage and DistributionHub in the United States" highlighted the economic and strategic benefits of such a hub. Without question the economic opportunities for West Virginians, as well as all citizens of the region, would be greatly enhanced by the creation of such a hub.
Furthermore, and to the point of The Appalachian Energy for National Security Act of 2019, we believe there are important national security interests which will be served as well. Clearly, further study of this issue, as mandated by the bill, would clarify those interests.
We thank you for your leadership on this important matter, and reemphasize our full support for this bill.
