Frontieras North America has closed on 183 acres in Mason County for a new advanced coal reformation facility, West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Monday.

Rick Handley, president of the Mason County Commission, said the $850 million investment will bring hundreds of temporary and permanent jobs to the county.

“The plant will hire 200 permanent people,” Handley said. “They’ll have 2,000 on construction and spending $850 million in Mason County … So. it’s a win-win for Point Pleasant and a win-win for Mason County and the citizens.”

Frontieras said the facility will be the first commercial-scale deployment of its patented process, converting coal into fuels, fertilizers, and industrial carbon products with zero waste.
